Polycarbonate
Polycarbonate is a thermoplastic, which is noted for its good mechanical properties. It is used in a variety of applications where high impact strength is required.
Polycarbonate has a relatively soft surface and in spectacle lenses, requires hard coat as standard. Polycarbonate lenses can be ground into a required prescription and can also be tinted.
They also have a built-in ultra violet inhibitor.
Our Polycarbonate lenses meet the low energy impact requirements of EN166.
Polycarbonate prescription lenses are available in single vision and a range of bifocal and varifocal lenses. Higher power prescriptions are not always available in polycarbonate as colour separation can be a problem.
